About Video Calls
Can my loved one initiate a call from the clock?
No. To keep things simple, only the caregivers can start a call from the mobile app. It is not possible to start a call from the clock.
Can we make a group call?
No, the clock doesn't allow group calls. Only one user at a time can make a call with the clock.
Can I choose or change the call ringtone on the Idem Clock?
Yes. The Idem Clock offers four ringtone options for video calls, and you can choose the one that best suits your loved one’s preferences directly in the caregiver Companion App. In the app, go to Clock settings to choose the ringtone.
Can my loved one accidentally hang up?
No. If they press “End,” the clock asks them to confirm they wish to hang up before ending the call.
Do video calls require to buy a new clock?
No, the video call feature works on all current Idem Clocks.
Do I need a subscription to make video calls?
Yes, Video Calling requires the Idem Premium subscription ($18/month). You can subscribe directly in the mobile app. Note that the Idem Premium subscription is free until January 14th, 2026.
What happens if my loved one is not in front of the clock and misses a call?
If your loved one isn’t nearby when you try to call, the clock simply stops ringing after one minute. They won’t receive any notification or “missed call” message — and they won’t feel stressed or confused, because there’s nothing for them to follow
Is Video Calling safe and private?
Yes. Calls are encrypted, and only approved caregivers can initiate them. Your loved one cannot receive calls from unknown contacts.
